About

The Altru Institute is a New York- and Switzerland-based think tank focused on accelerating solutions to society’s most complex problems.

The Institute’s objective is to reduce the friction that slows the progress of innovative solutions by developing tools that help innovators access the resources needed to grow and scale worldwide.

Its approach is to foster communication and collaboration among the most skilled and capable individuals by assembling communities around focused issues and challenges.

The Altru Institute operates from New York and Davos/Klosters, Switzerland, and is managed by Klosters Innovation Partners and Altru Partnersboth for-profit LLCs. It also operates the Altru Education Fund, Ltd., a New York not-for-profit corporation. Founded in 2017 by Mariam Azarm and Brett Johnson (its CEO), the Institute is managed by a small operating team supported by a global network of experts and investors.

The Institute hosts its Annual Meeting each January in Davos/Klosters, Switzerland, as well as regular events and Salons in New York throughout the year. In 2025, it will host an Island Sustainability Conference in Ibiza, Spain.

We focus on a select group of high-impact sectors: sustainability, water, waste, energy, and health and wellness.

In 2024, the Institute formed the Davos Consortium to bring together leading organizations focused on climate, energy, and sustainability. In 2026, it will introduce the Davos Consortium Technology Platform to showcase the world’s most scalable companies and technologies. DavosConsortium.org
