New York, NY — Altru Institute announced the formation of the Altru Water Project and Global Water Solutions Survey, an initiative designed to identify the world’s most promising and scalable water technologies.
With nearly 2 billion people lacking access to clean water, and with demands from industry and agriculture increasing, it is critical that we manage this shrinking resource more effectively. Solutions to water scarcity and toxicity exist—the challenge lies in accelerating their development and deploying them worldwide.
Only through unprecedented global collaboration can progress be made. “Many talented people and organizations are working to address this challenge; we will simply apply our collaborative model to support their progress by increasing visibility between and among those working on this issue worldwide,” said Brett Johnson, CEO of the Altru Institute. If each can become just a little more effective, we can have a positive impact in the aggregate.”
An example is Earth05, a Barcelona-based NGO, which has developed a co-creation model that fosters collaboration between water-oriented companies presenting tangible solutions. Providing visibility is critical for them to find strategic and financial partners.
Altru, a New York- and Swiss-based think tank, created the Davos Consortium in 2024 to bring together organizations worldwide that are focused on energy, climate, and sustainability. In 2025, it began building a Technology Platform to showcase investable breakthroughs and proven solutions for investors worldwide.
The platform provides investors with standardized company profiles, management interviews, and ongoing coverage of their progress. It will also offer a matching introduction service.
The Global Water Survey aims to gather insights from nearly 1,000 experts and investors to identify the most scalable solutions to populate the platform. It will also provide information to build an Ecosystem Report listing governmental, investment, and consulting resources, as well as media, conferences, and key players.
It will be available for sale and offered at a deep discount (or free of charge) to those who contribute to the survey and database. The results will premiere during Climate Week in New York, and then in Davos during the World Economic Forum.
The Altru Water Project invites companies, investors, and policymakers to join this global initiative. To learn more, visit www.davosconsortium.org/water.
